Terms of Service
Last updated: [DATE] · Effective for all use of Blamewell going forward
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Blamewell ("the Service"), operated by [LEGAL ENTITY NAME] ("we," "us"). By creating an account, purchasing a report, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
1. What the Service does
Blamewell analyzes publicly available GitHub repository and account data to produce ownership-concentration ("bus factor") reports and related insights. Reports and AI-generated summaries are informational estimates based on a bounded sample of commit history — see our methodology documentation for exactly what is and isn't computed. They are not a substitute for professional due diligence, legal advice, or a hiring decision made on their own.
2. Accounts
- You're responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity under your account.
- You must be at least 18 (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction) to create an account.
- We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, abuse the Service's infrastructure, or attempt to circumvent usage limits.
3. Payments
- One-off reports and subscription plans are billed through Stripe. We don't store your raw payment card details.
- Subscription plans renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel any time from your billing settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
- One-off report purchases are generally non-refundable once the report has been successfully generated and delivered. If generation fails after payment, we automatically flag it for review and issue a refund — see our refund handling in-app.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service to harass, defame, or make hiring/investment decisions in violation of applicable employment or anti-discrimination law;
- Attempt to circumvent rate limits, quota enforcement, or authentication;
- Scrape, resell, or redistribute report data at scale without a separate written agreement;
- Use the Service to analyze private repositories you don't have authorization to access.
5. Data and privacy
See our Privacy Policy for what we collect, why, and your rights over it, including account deletion and data export, both available directly from your account settings.
6. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE AND ALL REPORTS ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. Bus-factor and ownership analysis is a statistical estimate from sampled data, not a guarantee about any individual, project, or organization. We are not liable for decisions made based on report content.
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising from the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
8. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced in-app or by email before they take effect.
9. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of [JURISDICTION], without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

Additional terms (prevail where they differ from the translated text above)
These terms supplement the sections above. Version 2026-10-01. If you are a consumer, nothing here limits rights you have under mandatory law where you live.
A. Payments and the wallet
- Payments are processed by our payment providers (Razorpay, or Stripe); we never see card numbers. Prices are shown in US dollars; where your payment is charged in another currency the amount is converted at the rate shown at checkout.
- Wallet. You may add money to a wallet and spend it on plans, reports, bulk analyses and credit packs. It is prepaid stored value for use on Blamewell, not a bank account or e-money account, earns no interest, and cannot be transferred or withdrawn as cash except as set out in (C) or where the law requires. Balance and top-up limits are shown in Settings → Billing & wallet.
- Wallet-billed plans renew from the wallet each period. If the balance is too short the plan pauses and, after 3 days, ends; you can top up and choose a plan again at any time.
- “Demo” money and demo payments are for testing, move no real money, have no value and can be removed at any time.
B. Plans, upgrades and cancellation
You can cancel any plan at any time in Settings → Billing & wallet (or through your card provider’s portal). Cancellation stops renewal; you keep the plan until the end of the period you paid for. When you upgrade from the wallet you pay the new price less a credit for the unused time of the old period. A downgrade takes effect at the next renewal.
C. Right of withdrawal (EU / UK consumers)
- If you are a consumer in the EU or UK you have 14 days to withdraw from a distance purchase without giving a reason. Exception: for digital content and services that begin immediately at your request — reports, analyses, and access to a plan — you must expressly agree at checkout that performance starts immediately and acknowledge that, once a report is delivered or a service is fully performed, you lose the right of withdrawal; for a plan you withdraw from within 14 days you pay only for the days already used. We cannot start the service without that agreement, and we keep a record of it (time, version of these terms, IP address and browser) as proof.
- Wallet top-ups: if you change your mind within 14 days of a top-up and have spent none of that money, contact us and we will refund it to your original payment method.
- If generation of a report you paid for fails, we refund you (to the wallet, or to your payment method if you paid directly). Statutory guarantees for defective digital content remain unaffected.
D. Your account, and deleting it
You can delete your account in Settings. Deletion deactivates it immediately; for at least 60 days (never fewer than 60) you can restore it by signing in and pressing “Restore my account”; afterwards it is permanently erased — including any wallet balance, which is forfeited — except records the law requires us to keep, which we keep without your identity. Details: Privacy Policy, section 6. You must be at least 16 to use Blamewell.
E. Reports about people; hiring use
Reports and scores are analytics based on public or supplied data and can be incomplete or wrong. You must not use them as the sole basis for a decision about a person, must comply with laws on employment screening and automated decision-making that apply to you, must inform the people you analyse where the law requires, and must not upload data you have no right to use. Where you upload personal data of others you are the controller and we are your processor — a data-processing agreement is available at [PRIVACY EMAIL].
F. Acceptable use and suspension
Do not attack, overload or scrape the service, evade limits, resell it without permission, or use it unlawfully. We may suspend or end accounts that break these terms; if we end a paid plan without cause we refund the unused period.
G. Changes, law and contact
We will tell you about material changes in advance; if you object you can cancel and delete your account before they apply. Governing law and courts: [GOVERNING LAW AND COURTS] — but as a consumer you may also rely on the mandatory law and courts of your country of residence.
